2024 Ford Transit van priced for Australia: Improved towing capacity and cabin tech for more expensive LDV Deliver 9 and Volkswagen Crafter rival

More towing capacity for the 2024 Transit.

Ford has announced pricing and specification for the more capable 2024 Transit van range.

Big boosts to braked towing capacity and gross combination mass (GCM) are the highlights, though enhanced cabin technology, powertrain tweaks and more safety features are present.

The ‘MY24.75’ Transit range will land in Australia in the third quarter of the year priced from $59,990 before on-road costs with prices up between $500-$3000, depending on the variant.

A strengthened chassis and new eight-speed torque converter automatic sees the 350L front-wheel drive Transit’s braked towing capacity climb 950kg to 2750kg, and the GCM increased to 6000kg – a 1750kg improvement.

The new transmission adopts a rotary gear selector while the base Transit also drops the manual option. It retains the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder producing 121kW and 390Nm.

Rigidity improvements mean the 10-speed auto rear-drive 350L ($62,990) also gets more load lugging ability. The braked towing climbs 750kg (to 3500kg) and GCM 900kg. The larger 430E improves, too, at 1100kg more towing (also 3500kg) and 900kg more GCM.

The electric E-Transit is unchanged with 198kW/430Nm from its electric motor. Its 68kWh battery bestows it with a 307km WLTP driving range.

More connectivity for 2024 Transit.

Outside, the refreshed Transit range gets black badges and a simplified Blue Oval logo.

Inside, there’s a new 8.0-inch digital driver’s display, electronic hand brake (previously e-Transit only), push-button start, tyre pressure monitoring and a 5G embedded modem for car connectivity.

Van and Bus Transits now get a 360-degree camera standard, while the Cab Chassis variant is equipped with fog lights and front parking sensors

Trim-dependent options include High Roof ($1500), High Roof with shelves ($2500), single passenger seat ($150), and dual side load doors ($1000).
