Keeping a Caprice long-term?

My wife and I are retired, in our early 60s, she drives a BMW X3 we want to keep but I'm wondering about my 2005 Holden Caprice. I only drive 5000-8000km a year, mainly locally in Melbourne, and fear I am about to have to spend some money on maintenance. I love the Caprice and it is great for back-seat space, although it doesn't get great economy. Should I buy a smaller and more fuel-efficient car for running around town or keep the Caprice and basically drive it into the ground.

If you really love the Caprice keep it. Even with some repairs it will not cost as much as a baby car and that gives you that enjoyment.
