2023 Volkswagen Amarok with beastly off-road upgrades rendered - watch out, Ford Ranger!

It’s not real yet, but Delta4x4’s vision for the Volkswagen Amarok looks very in-line with its past creations.

German 4x4 modification company Delta4x4 has revealed renders of its plans to create a Volkswagen Amarok called ‘The Beast’.

The 42-year-old company, which has created tough off-roaders based on everything from Suzuki Jimnys to Porsche Cayennes, hasn’t built the Volkswagen Amarok Beast yet, nor has it revealed specific details about the Beast short of the visuals in its render.

Starting from the ground, it’s clear the Amarok’s standard wheels have been replaced with a larger set from the Delta4x4 stable, called Force20, which are wrapped in off-road focused tyres and have resulted in properly huge wheel arches.

The VW dual-cab clearly been lifted significantly, with what could be underbody protection visible with a relatively tame front bar with an LED light bar.

Further up, another light bar is mounted to the front of a rugged roof rack, which has space for a spare tyre and 4x4 recovery gear as visualised: a shovel, tracks, fuel canisters, and what might be a water storage box.

No mechanical changes can be ascertained, but V6 badges on the render suggest Delta4x4 plans to focus on the six-cylinder version of the Amarok.

As a cousin model to the Ford Ranger, the new Volkswagen Amarok not only borrows its platform from the Blue Oval, but also shares its 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine, which makes 177kW or 184kW depending on the market.

Like the Ranger, the diesel V6 is paired with a 10-speed torque converter automatic transmission - of course transmitting power to all four wheels.

It’s not clear if there are any interior modifications, though it wouldn’t seem like much more than some badging or potentially even a handheld UHF radio would be necessary to keep the list of off-roading modifications going.

The Volkswagen Amarok, which was revealed in the middle of this year, isn’t slated to arrive in Australia until the first quarter of 2023 with pricing and Australian specifications yet to be confirmed.

By then, it’s possible further details of the Delta4x4 Beast will have emerged.

In terms of availability of the Delta4x4 parts and kit to create a Volkswagen Amarok Beast, Australia is a tricky prospect.

The company, which says it’s present worldwide, has a relatively inactive Australia-specific Instagram account, which has a link to an inactive local website.

The main German website does state its parts are available worldwide, though its shop section won’t allow shipping to Australia.

Instead, it seems the best approach to accessing Delta4x4 parts and modifications is to email the company directly to its German HQ via the main website.

However, with the new Amarok sharing the same platform as the popular Ford Ranger, it is expected a number of off-road equipment specialists like ARB and TJM will offer a raft of 4x4 accessories for the new model.
