Better than a BMW M, angrier than an AMG? 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelio QV models bring the noise

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio QV pack a performance punch.

The MY23 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio QV models will arrive in Australia in December, with the Italian twins packing a new performance punch.

Both remain powered by Alfa Romeo's epic 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine, good for 375kW and 600Nm, with the brand promising a sprint to 100km/h of 3.8 seconds (Stelvio QV) and 3.9 seconds (Giulia QV).

But joining the performance package for this MY23 update is the addition of an all-new mechanical limited-slip differential, which should deliver better cornering and more dialled-in handling.

"The new Giulia and Stelvio QV models, will take the Alfa Romeo brand into the future, providing reference to the aesthetic legends of the past, while adding the latest innovation to provide unparalleled sportiness and performance," the brand says.

"The most significant performance update for the QV range is the addition of an all-new mechanical limited-slip differential, that contributes to the improvement of the cars’ behaviour and traction, by optimising torque transfer and increasing stability, agility, and cornering speed. It also gives the driver a more direct feeling, emphasising the vehicles’ dynamics and sportiness."

And you can add to that the specific QV Active Suspension, a performance braking system and an active front splitter (on the Giulia).

The MY23 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio QV models will arrive in Australia in December.

The Giulia QV touches down with 19-inch alloys, red brake calipers, a carbon-fibre bonnet and spoiler, Monza four-tip exhaust and the active splitter up front. The Stelvio QV get 20-inch forged-alloy wheels and a dual-mode quad exhaust.

Elsewhere, both models also get a cabin overhaul, now featuring a new 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster screen with a new “Race” configuration.

There's also wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.8-inch colour touchscreen with navigation, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo.

Both the Giulia and Stelvio GV models get a cabin overhaul.

Also incoming are a handful of special-edition 100 Anniversario models, which add gold brake calipers, gold badging and a heap of extra carbon-fibre. Australia secured just five Giulia and three Stelvio models, all of which have already been sold.

Alfa Romeo's new performance heroes will arrive in December.
