New Volkswagen California Beach and Multivan Cruise 2021 pricing and spec detailed

Only 30 units of the Volkswagen California Beach Limited Edition will be available, starting at $94,990 BOCs.

Volkswagen Australia will launch limited editions of its California Beach campervan and Multivan Cruise people mover priced at $94,990 before on-road costs and $73,990 respectively.

Both models will be limited to just 30 units each, with both available to purchase online from 10am on June 24.

Based on the new T6.1 Transporter, the California Beach is powered by a new Euro6-compliant 110kW turbo-diesel engine, hooked up to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive.

On the outside, the California Beach sports one of three two-tone paint schemes, an electro-hydraulic elevating roof, silver awning, dual sliding doors, 17-inch alloy wheels and a powered tailgate.

Inside, the big campervan features seating for five, as well as interior blinds and a bed extension with sleeping mat.

Equipment-wise, the California Beach is fitted with a second battery, camping table and chairs, digital instrumentation, 8.0-inch multimedia screen with satellite navigation and voice controls, while safety gear includes adaptive cruise control, city emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, reversing camera and cross-wind assist.

The Multivan Cruise people mover however, is powered by the same 110kW Euro6 engine and seven-speed DCT, but is only front-wheel driven.

The Multivan Cruise will also wear a two-tone paint scheme, while LED headlights, an electric tailgate, 18-inch wheels and black-painted B-pillars also feature.

Similar to the California Beach, the Multivan Cruise scores a digital cockpit, adaptive cruise control, city emergency braking and blind-spot monitor, but also nabs heated front seats trimmed in ‘Art Velour’ and a larger 9.2-inch multimedia screen.

Both special edition models are expected to be delivered in late 2020 alongside VW’s updated van and people mover range.
