Rolls-Royce might not have any plans to introduce a pick-up, but what if they transformed the Cullinan large luxury SUV into a tool-ready tradie special?
That’s the question artist Rain Prisk asked himself when he created his take on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan ute, which stretches the SUV’s wheelbase to accommodate a rear bed.
The imagined dual-cab ute also sports a jacked-up ride height, blacked-out fender flares, off-road tyres and a roof-mounted spoiler to complete the transition from opulent high-rider to workhorse.
Power would also come courtesy of the Cullinan’s 420kW/850Nm twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre petrol V12, easily outmuscling other luxury utes such as the 190kW/580Nm Volkswagen Amarok and 190kW/550Nm Mercedes-Benz X350d that are both powered by 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6s.
BMW’s X7 pick-up could also be in the mix as a potential rival for the Cullinan ute, though only one version of the former exists as a special build by the German brand’s trainees for use as motorbike transporter.
For reference, the BMW X7 ute is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, outputting 250kW and 450Nm.
The Cullinan’s off-road prowess could also carryover, with a self-levelling air suspension, active anti-roll bars, double wishbone up front and a five-link rear axle, and permanent all-wheel-drive traction.
All the ultra-luxurious interior fittings and cutting-edge technology could also carryover to the load-loving Cullinan, including a night-vision camera system, predictive damping, automatically lowering suspension and customisable in-cabin materials.
If Rolls-Royce were to offer a Cullinan ute, it wouldn’t come cheap though as the SUV kicks off at $685,000 driveaway.
