Whoops! 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S electric SUV accidentally leaked by Jeep just days after being teased as American SUV specialist moves to rival Kia EV9

Jeep's next-generation electric Wagoneer S has been accidentally leaked by the brand's official social media channels.

Full images of Jeep's next-gen electric Wagoneer S were posted on Facebook by the brand’s official social media account just days after the SUV was teased by the brand, but were quickly taken down. Of course, they were quickly saved by keen observers.

The next-gen Wagoneer S will be an electric-only large SUV and will for the first time be a truly global version of the nameplate, with the current combustion version being primarily for North America.

The leaked images depict a slick SUV with an almost coupe-style rear and an extended spoiler. It also has a contemporary bar light across the previously unseen rear three-quarter view. Also seen are large alloy wheels, a two-tone roof, a panoramic sunroof and intended aerodynamic doorhandles. It also has a clean, nearly grille-free front design likely for low drag, while maintaining the LED-lit version of the brand’s signature ‘seven-slot’ face.

A ‘Wagoneer’ badge works its way down the side of the front door, while the rear simply has a small Jeep badge atop the boot lid. This new Wagoneer S' design is in stark contrast to the excess of the current Grand Wagoneer which features a busy chrome-embossed face design and boxy wagon-like rear.

The Wagoneer S doesn’t only debut a new and more premium design direction for Jeep, but it will also be the first vehicle to ride on its parent company’s next-generation STLA-Large platform.

Jeep’s next EV set to arrive in Australia in 2024 is the new-generation Avenger small SUV.

This new platform will support both 400-volt and 800-volt electric architectures and as well as a set of new “three-in-one” drive units which contain the gearbox, motor, and inverter system in a single housing. The Wagoneer S is confirmed to be all-wheel-drive only and will have 441kW of power and a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.5 seconds.

The new platform will go on to underpin eight new vehicles from Dodge, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati. The Large platform will be followed by STLA-Small, STLA-Medium, and STLA-Frame platforms underpinning the entire future range of cars from the Stellantis family, which includes not only the aforementioned marques, but also Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, Opel, and Lancia in Europe.

Jeep’s next EV set to arrive in Australia in 2024 is the new-generation Avenger small SUV. Interestingly, this car will be front-wheel-drive only and is too early for the STLA-Small platform, instead riding on the same eCMP platform which underpins the Peugeot e-2008. Jeep promises the same go-anywhere attitude despite its 2WD layout.

The American brand is down 30.4 per cent to the end of 2023 despite the introduction of a new-generation version of its historically best-selling Grand Cherokee, which has significantly moved up the price-scale. No doubt the brand will be betting on these new-generation electric products to bolster its line-up in Australia after a hard few years.
