Emily discovered her interest in cars early through her mum’s passion, and quickly found herself researching the cool cars her mum’s S15 Nissan 200SX passed on the highway.

Emily's readiness to engage and have a chat wound up opening her first door in the media, spending time as a freelance events and news photographer for her local paper while undertaking a Creative Writing degree at the University of Wollongong.

After graduating, Emily helped to build the family real estate business. Not satisfied with the high-octane environment of sales, Emily signed a book deal for her YA fantasy novel and has successfully published the first novel in the series.

Always one to be busy (sometimes to her chagrin), she wrote the novel and then completed the edits while pregnant with her cheeky five-year-old boy. As if growing a little human wasn’t exhausting enough!

But her natural curiosity of ‘what’s that car?!’ and 'why don't they do it this way?!' continued throughout and it didn’t come as a surprise to her family when she was drawn into the automotive world professionally as a Contributing Journalist with CarsGuide.

Aside from her passion for what makes a good family car, Emily has a soft spot for Nissan Skylines, big utes and any muscle cars that make the heart thump.

If you’re looking for a small SUV for your family, you’re probably in the tough position of trying to find something that will not only squeeze itself into little car parks and tight city streets but can actually fit a member or two of your family! Well, the Hyundai Kona Premium is about to rock...Read more
The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is the wagon version of the G70 and that means a little bit more room than its sedan sibling and a whole lotta sexy styling at the rear. Currently, there is only one variant available in Australia and it has some tough competition from the likes of the Volkswagen...Read more
Medium SUVs are the bread and butter for small families. They combine a lot of the practicality of their larger siblings while still being able to be parked in even the most rat-warren-like city car park. Their size exemplifies 'having your cake and eating it too' but what happens when you throw...Read more
The MG HS +EV Essence is a smart-looking hybrid medium SUV that comes well-stacked with features and has a price point that will make you swoon. Add the plug-in hybrid engine/motor combination and it’s pitched as a firm competitor against heavyweights like the Ford Escape , Toyota RAV4 and the...Read more
Give me an U. Give me a T. Gimme an E! What does that spell? UTE! In Australia, it’s a word that’s been a fiercely-protected description for what an American would call a ‘truck’ and a Brit would call a ‘pick-up truck’. When I hear the word, I immediately think of open paddocks, a multi-coloured...Read more
Ah, the Toyota Camry. A beloved sedan that has been the benchmark for reliability and family-hauling ever since the nameplate arrived on our shores in the early 1980s. Adored by grandparents and commercial drivers everywhere, the newest iteration upholds the traditions while carefully positioning...Read more
There is a plethora of medium SUVs to choose from in our market, so what will make you notice the Subaru Forester 2.5i-S? It's second from the top for the (petrol) Forester line-up, has a decidedly spacious cabin, and probably most importantly, an affordable price point! It has some tough rivals,...Read more
Let’s be honest, medium SUVs are the bread and butter of the Aussie new car market and there are a lot of rivals to choose from. Which is why the Citroen C5 Aircross Sport’s much-needed update is welcomed with open arms, especially since it’s the only model in the range. It boasts more space than a...Read more
When I first saw a 'Build Your Dreams' car I wasn't sure I was looking at the model name or the car brand. I remember watching it pass me in the city and craning my neck to make sure I did, in fact, read the name correctly. Having your car brand called 'Build Your Dreams' was always going to be a...Read more
Mazda has a tendency to have a lot of similar looking horses in the stable; blink and you'll miss the (very) subtle differences between the CX-8 and the CX-9 but if you're not super keen on the bulk of the CX-9 and you've outgrown the space of the CX-5... this one's for you. Especially, if you've...Read more
Has it really been 20 years since the humble Mazda6 station wagon hit our roads? You betcha, but I was more shocked that I remembered when it did! I have a sudden flashback of questionable fashion choices, glittery butterfly hair clips and how Skipper was making a play at being the coolest 'Barbie...Read more
The Lexus RX500h F Sport Performance is the flagship model for the RX line-up. It’s a deceptively large SUV and it has some serious heavy-hitting luxury rivals; like the BMW X5 xDrive45e and the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 . The new RX has been revamped, restyled and retooled, so how does it compete? Read...Read more
The Nissan X-Trail has finally seen a proper restyling – one that has made it competitive on the design front with other medium SUVs, like Australia’s darling, the Toyota RAV4 and the sporty Mazda CX-5. Both of which are heavy-hitters in their category and the broader family car market! However,...Read more
I’ll be honest with you, Audi is not a car brand I’ve had much to do with. I was a total newbie when I slid into the front seat of the new SQ7 TFSI but what an introduction to the brand! The SQ7 is in the ‘ large performance SUV ’ category but it does have tough competition from the likes of the...Read more
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 Dynamiq is a surprisingly stylish EV that manages to capture the future with its styling while still being an easy car to operate. Yet, in a growing EV market, there are some serious competitors to contend with, like its cousin the Kia EV6 Air and the ever-popular Tesla Model Y...Read more
I'm calling it - the Volkswagen Passat is the forgotten hero of station wagons. It's surprisingly large while retaining the creature comforts and understated styling of old-world glamour. Then enters the R-Line. A badge that diehard Volkswagen enthusiasts know is synonymous with sporty performance...Read more
This is the baby SUV for Hyundai’s line-up but it does tend to remind you of this a little too often for this to truly be fun. Still, it presents an interesting road-side presence and a comfortable urban driving experience. Coupled with the competitive price tag, is this the little SUV that could?...Read more
Kia has released the newly updated Niro, which is the smaller and less sporty sibling to Kia’s popular, EV6. As far as EVs go, it has a decent driving range and specs that should entice first-time electric vehicle owners to dip their toes into the EV pool. However, the updated model does come with...Read more
Back in the day, the 3 Series sedan was often the entry to the brand for first time BMW owners, and for good reason. They offered practical interior space without compromising on engine performance. And they simply looked good, no boring nanny design elements. Then the 1 Series came along and price...Read more
