2017 Holden Trax | new car sales price

Holden has announced pricing and specification for its refreshed Trax compact SUV, giving it a substantial facelift, added connectivity technology and a new variant to sit in the middle of the range.

The manual LS will remain the entry-level variant of the range, retaining its 103kW/175Nm 1.8-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine and its $23,990 before on-roads pricetag.

The six-speed automatic LS drops the amto engine in favour of a 103kW/200Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four cylinder that was previously only offered in the top-spec LTZ variant, and also gains rear disc brakes over its three-pedalled sibling.

Both LS variants feature 16-inch alloy wheels, reversing camera, cruise control, rear-park assist, six-speaker sound system, leather steering wheel and cloth interior.

The most obvious changes to the updated Trax range are the exterior styling tweaks.

A 7.0-inch colour touchscreen entertainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is a new feature offered as standard across the range, as are projection headlights with daytime running lights.

A new mid-spec variant, called LT, has been introduced into the range priced at $28,890, adding a sunroof, digital radio, front fog lamps, keyless entry and start, armrests for the driver and front passenger and 18-inch alloys.

The range-topping LTZ, which has been bumped up in price to $30,490 to accommodate for the LT, adds blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, Sportec synthetic leather seats with heating for front occupants, automatic wipers, LED tail-lights, side mirror-integrated turn signals and 3.5-inch driver display.

Both the LT and LTZ are offered with a six-speed auto and the same 1.4-litre turbo four found in the auto LS, with all variants sending power to the front wheels.

The most obvious changes to the updated Trax range are the exterior styling tweaks at both front and rear, making the small crossover more in line with the General Motors design language seen on other models such as the Chevrolet Volt and Malibu.

It also gets styling adjustments to the interior, with an updated console design complete with contrast stitching across the dash.

The range will be offered in red and white paint colours, while buyers will have to shell out an additional $550 for grey, silver, black and blue prestige paints.

In 2016 the Trax enjoyed a pre-facelift sales renaissance, selling 7976 units for a 25.6 per cent increase over 2015.

That was good enough to place it fifth in the ever-increasing small-SUV segment, behind the hot-selling Mazda CX-3 (18,334), Mitsubishi ASX (18,126), Nissan Qashqai (12,259) and Subaru XV (8290).
