Launched here in November 1997, the second- generation Audi A6 arrived in 2.4 V6, 2.4 V6 quattro (all-wheel drive), 2.8 V6 and 2.8 V6 quattro sedan guises.
Designed to go up against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series, the A6 sedan and wagon - or Avant in Audi speak - grew in size over the next two generations, with the current C7 launched in 2011 a full 150mm longer in the wheelbase than the 1997 car. The range now extends from the $94,175 A6 40 Tfsi S Line Mhev up to the $132,715 A6 55 Tfsi Quattro S Line Mhev.
The A6 model range also yields a couple of Audi's fastest machines - the potent RS6 and RS6 Avant, powered by twin-turbo V8 petrol engines, both pushing out more than 400kW each.
