    I'm looking to buy a 4wd for towing, but I'm overwhelmed by the choices. Could you please suggest some ideal options suited to my brief, which is to tow a horse float with two horses, priced under $50,000, can be driven by a novice, and would be driven in town during the week and off-road on weekends.

    The towing rating is the main thing you need to get right, and your need to tow a horse float with two horses means you need a heavy four-wheel drive, like a Landcruiser or Patrol. Either one will be up to the towing task, and could be driven by a novice, but would be chore to drive around town.
