    Mazda CX-7 2007: Acceptable fuel consumption?

    I READ with interest a reader's complaint about the fuel consumption of his Mazda CX-7. I have had my CX-7 since 2007 and have seen numbers as low as 9.77 litres/100km and as high as 15 litres. It all comes down to the driving habits of my wife and myself. My average over this period is 12.4 litres/100km, which I consider an acceptable figure for this vehicle. It's a great vehicle overall.

    DRIVING style has a huge impact on fuel economy and is the first thing I'd recommend any owner look at if they want to reduce their visits to the servo. Easing up on the throttle is a great way of saving on fuel, as is reading the traffic ahead, and not racing up to traffic lights when it's clear you're going to have to stop. Use some smarts and you'll reduce your car's consumption.
