Golf climate change

In the six years I have owned my 2004 VW Golf 2.0-litre Sport Auto I have replaced four lambda probes and air mass flow meters. VW states the problem is due to my short distance driving and that Australian petrol is not the same standard as European! I always use top grade unleaded. As I enjoy the Golf I am thinking of buying a new 2009 model, but before I do I would like to know if VW has corrected or improved the technology with respect to the lambda probes, air mass flow meters, so that I can feel confident of buying without on- going expensive problems?

VW's advice to you is rubbish, they sell the Golf in this country and they are responsible to make sure it is suitable for the climate we have. I wouldn't accept this advice. As for the new model I can't say, but I doubt there has been any change.
