I recently bought a 2006 Holden Calais, which is a great car in all respects apart from one mildly annoying characteristic. On the highway, when it reaches a change in incline it will continually make little lunges forward with the tacho bumping up a few hundred revs each time without not dropping down a gear. It can go on indefinitely. Apply a bit more accelerator or reach a steeper part of the hill and it changes down and is fine. If the hill levels off and the car doesn't have to work quite as hard, the problem stops. What's all that about?
It could be that you’re driving on the point of torque convertor lock-up, change your speed when it happens.
