Trouble setting up Toyota Link Assist

I purchased a 2016 Toyota Camry Altera S at the end of February this year. The sales person mentioned that one of the attractions for this model was Toyota Link Assist. I decided last week to investigate as I was taking my family on a road trip. This feature meant I could listen to Pandora or other things via the smart phone through the system. When I downloaded the app I could not sync. I have read that a lot of people are having the same problem. I have also researched further on Toyota's website and found out that Toyota Link would not be available from November 2016. It also said that the compatible phones were older Android or iPhones. I have called Toyota but have got no help.
