MY SON has a Toyota HiLux SR5 and a door hinge was damaged when the door was caught by a gust of wind, which in his estimation was not very strong. The remedy was to replace the hinges, realign the door and repaint the pillar at a cost of $600. The door hinges of a workmate's HiLux were also damaged and the doors are out of alignment. The dealer service department says this problem is not uncommon, but is not covered by warranty. The HiLux used to be ``unbreakable'', but I'm wondering if it still is.
WITHOUT knowing the strength of the wind gust that caught the door it's hard to comment on your son's case, but we have had no reports of problems with the HiLux's body. We have had a few reports of clutch problems and this does seem to be an issue with the vehicle.
