Wrangler Sport towing capacity

My wife and I are now looking for a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport diesel auto and I note that the 2007 and 2008 models have a very modest 170 kg unbraked towing capacity, whereas the 2009 models onwards have a 750 kg unbraked towing capacity. The braked towing capacity for all models is 2300 kg. Towing is important for us as we have a large caravan (braked), but also two smaller (single and tandem) trailers. I understand from Jeep Customer Service that the towing capacity may be limited by vehicle compliance, but I don't understand what the physical differences in the models may be to have such a difference. Do you know why this is please?

We checked with Chrysler and the information they provided was that all Limited models have the same unbraked towing capacity, which is 750 kg. You might be confused with the towball rating, which is 170 kg.
