Mercedes-Benz Australia has increased the pricing of the fourth-generation C-Class mid-size car for the second time in five months.
The sedan body-style is up between $600 and $2465, while its Estate (wagon) and coupe siblings have risen between $700 and $2465. That said, their Cabriolet (convertible) counterpart is unchanged.
As such, the C-Class range now starts from $66,900 plus on-road costs for the C200 sedan, but stills tops out at $194,000 for the AMG C63 S Cabriolet (see full pricing tables below).
A Mercedes-Benz Australia spokesperson told CarsGuide no changes have been made to the standard specification of the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series, and Audi A4 and A5 rivals.
Instead, they said: “The price adjustments are down to a number of factors that include Consumer Price Index (CPI) movement and exchange-rate instability.”
For reference, C200 variants are motivated by a 150kW/300Nm 1.5-litre single-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, while C300 versions step up with a 190kW/370Nm tune, and the C300e sedan adds an electric motor to create a 235kW/700Nm plug-in hybrid powertrain.
AMG C43 variants are powered by a 287kW/520Nm 3.0-litre single-turbo V6 petrol engine, while AMG C63 S versions charge ahead with a 375kW/700Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.
Furthermore, C200, C300, C300e and AMG C63 S variants send drive to the rear wheels, while AMG C43 versions have Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
C200, C300, C300e and AMG C43 variants are mated to a nine-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, while AMG C63 S versions have a dual-clutch unit.
As reported, the fifth-generation C-Class sedan and Estate were revealed last month, with the pair due in local showrooms by end of this year.
