2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross price and features confirmed: Nissan Qashqai and Toyota Corolla Cross small SUV rival locks in new variants and tweaked look

Mitsubishi's key Eclipse Cross SUV gets small tweaks and a few price increases across the range for 2023.

Mitsubishi has locked in an updated Eclipse Cross small SUV range for 2023, featuring tweaked styling, updated features and a new LS Black Edition variant.

The new LS Black Edition is a new mid-grade priced from $35,490 before on-road costs, which sits above the base ES and LS but below the Aspire and Exceed. It features the same 110kW/250Nm turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the rest of the combustion line-up, adding 18-inch black alloy wheels, gloss black door mirrors, gloss black skid plates, a black interior theme with headliner, and dark silver garnishes.

It also scores a four-way power adjust driver’s seat, heated front seats, and synthetic suede and leather seat trim. The LS Black Edition is only available as a front-wheel drive non-hybrid.

There are also some other tweaks to the range. The base ES now scores rear parking sensors, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and new steering wheel trim, the LS grade scores blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, an auto-dimming rear-vision mirror, and additional USB-C and USB-A sockets.

The Aspire grade receives contrasting black and silver exterior detailing, while the top-spec Exceed adds an electric tailgate to its list of standard equipment. It also gets a new optional light grey leather interior trim option.

The plug-in hybrid range has received one of the most significant new features, now with a 1500W vehicle-to-load (V2L) function via a 240-volt household three-pin outlet in the boot, as well as similar tweaks across its three variant range.

The Eclipse Cross PHEV continues to be offered with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and dual electric motors in an all-wheel-drive layout, as well as a 13.8kWh battery granting a 55km fully electric driving range on the NEDC standard. Rare for a PHEV, the Eclipse Cross can charge on a DC connector, bringing the charge time down from 3.5 hours to 25 minutes.

The new LS Black Edition is a new mid-grade priced from ,490 before on-road costs.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia says production starts now, with orders for model year 23 Eclipse Cross variants arriving in March of this year.

The Eclipse Cross will face new competition in 2023 from the likes of the long-awaited new-generation Nissan Qashqai and Toyota Corolla Cross, as well as existing rivals like the Kia Seltos and Mazda CX-30.

The LS grade scores blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and an auto-dimming rear-vision mirror.
