For China only! The world misses out on three new sleek electric cars from Honda

Honda’s electrification march continues, but not here in Australia, as the brand introduces the next iterations of two electric SUV models, as well a concept signposting the next generation of its electric car development.

Two prototype models for production, the e:NP2 Prototype and the e:NS2 Prototype, and one concept model, the e:N SUV, join the slew of 10 Honda electric cars the brand will introduce to China by 2027.

Honda says the e:NP2 and e:NS2 are being developed as production models “as the second set of Honda e:N Series EV models” to follow the e:NP1 and e:NS1, which are both currently available in China.

The new versions will be available for sale in China at the start of next year.

While the e:NS1, with a claimed range of up to 510km and as much power output as 150kW, is very closely modelled on the Honda HR-V, the next-iteration e:NS2 takes the styling further away from Honda’s traditional design elements and aims to portray a “seamless, sophisticated and smart sense of the future”.

Expect the second-gen car to better those specifications.

The e:NP2, on the other hand, aims for a more “emotional sense of the future” and uses some design elements reminiscent of current models like the Civic, particularly around the headlights.

Both aim to move the bar higher for the brand in three key areas: dynamics, intelligence and beauty.

Joining them for the reveal, but not yet for production, is the aforementioned e:N SUV, which is a further development of a concept seen late last year alongside the e:N Coupe and e:N GT concepts.

The e:N SUV is the forebear of the generation to follow the two other cars revealed today, seemingly quite quickly as Honda claims they’ll be on sale less than 12 months later, before the end of 2024.
