Jaguar is celebrating 70 years since the introduction of its first sports model, the XK120, with a special edition of the F-Type Coupe and Convertible.
Dubbed the ‘F-Type Chequered Flag’, the special editions are based on the F-Type R-Dynamic and include a suite of aesthetic upgrades including bespoke 20-inch ‘diamond turned finish’ gloss black alloy wheels.
Jaguar is also using this F-Type limited edition to debut Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity on the car’s 10-inch multimedia touchscreen.
Chequered Flag buyers will also benefit from a Meridian premium audio system, ‘slimline’ heated and cooled sports seats finished in 'Windsor' leather as well as brushed aluminium trim in the interior and a slew of ‘chequered flag’ logos.
All F-Type Chequered Flag editions come with the brand’s ‘Exterior Black Design Pack’ (normally $5640) which features the SVO performance subdivision’s improved aero tweaks.
The Chequered Flag can be chosen with three drivetrain options, from the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo (221kW/400Nm) in rear-wheel drive to the 3.0-litre Supercharged V6 (280kW/460Nm) in all-wheel drive and can be had in either Coupe or Convertible for a total choice of eight variants (but no 5.0L V8 F-Type R version).
The special editions are only offered with an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission, the six-speed manual from the rest of the range is not available.
Starting from $139,650 for the four-cylinder Coupe, the Chequered Flag is at least $19,400 more expensive than the R-Dynamic on which it is based.
