Last of the V8s: 2024 Ram 1500 TRX bows out with Final Edition, but will the new 1500 RHO come in to replace it and take on the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado?

The last 130 examples of the Ram 1500 TRX for Australia are this, the Final Edition.

Ram Trucks Australia has confirmed a final run of 130 units of its top-spec, wicked TRX variant of the 1500 pick-up truck are coming to Australia.

The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition will be the last chance for Aussies to get hold of the supercharged 6.2-litre V8-powered full-size truck, with 523kW and 882Nm under its belt to nail a 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 4.5 seconds.

Three colours, Delmonico Red, Night Edge Blue and Harvest Sunrise, will be available on the TRX Final Edition, with pricing set at $249,950 before on-road costs - a premium of $25,000 over the standard TRX.

It comes with extra inclusions like Final Edition badging and even a Final Edition cluster screen, door panel inserts, matte carbon fibre on the instrument panel, doors, console and steering wheel, and plenty of other TRX gear.

The timing of the Final Edition for Australia comes very soon after a new top-spec, performance-leaning variant was announced for the US.

The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO was unveiled yesterday in the brand’s home market, coming in to top the range of inline six-cylinder-powered Ram trucks.

Three colours, Delmonico Red, Night Edge Blue and Harvest Sunrise, will be available on the TRX Final Edition.

It uses the same 403kW/706Nm version of the turbocharged 3.0-litre ‘Hurricane High Output’ inline six as the rest of the updated US truck's range, which does away with V8-powered versions.

A spokesperson for Ram Trucks Australia declined to comment on the future of the Ram 1500 here in Australia, with no confirmed next-step after the V8-powered Ram is no longer available. It’s expected given its popularity here that the RHO will come to Australia to take the top spot in an updated range for Australia.

Rather than a more powerful engine, the RHO does the job with more off-road focused parts like long-travel suspension, adaptive dampers and high-strength forged aluminium front control arms.
