New Jeep Cherokee 2020 pricing and specs detailed: S-Limited arrives as new SUV flagship to take on Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4

Jeep Australia has updated its Cherokee mid-size SUV line-up by removing the Longitude grade, adding the S-Limited flagship and increasing pricing across the range by up to $3000 due to the weakening Australian dollar.

Still kicking off the range is the Sport variant, but pricing has moved up $2000 to $37,950 before on-road costs.

As mentioned, the $41,950 Longitude has now been discontinued, while the $45,150 Night Eagle remains static in pricing.

The Limited variant cops the biggest price increase of $3000 to $49,950 and the off-road-focused Trailhawk also jumps $1500 to $49,950.

However, sitting atop the revised Cherokee range is the new S-Limited, priced at $52,650.

Two engine choices are available in the Cherokee range, with the base Sport fitted with a 130kW/229Nm 2.4-litre petrol four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels, and the rest of the line-up powered by a 200kW/315Nm petrol V6 that drives all wheels.

Both engines are paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment also carries over as before, and includes a 7.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 17-inch wheels, LED headlights and leather-wrapped steering wheel, while safety gear extends to autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and reversing camera.

Stepping up to the Night Eagle nets buyers 18-inch wheels, gloss-black exterior accents, 8.4-inch multimedia touchscreen with satellite navigation, black interior highlights, parking assist and adaptive cruise control.

The Limited variant adds power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, automatic highbeams, nine-speaker sound system, heated and cooled front pews, kick-operated tailgate, keyless entry and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster.

Geared towards getting off the beaten path, the Trailhawk gains Jeep’s active drive lock 4x4 system with Selec-Terrain, jacked-up ride height, rear locking differential, 17-inch wheels, red tow hooks, beefed-up underbody protection, hill descent control and bespoke seats with red accent stitching.

The S-Limited meanwhile, is geared more towards on-road comfort and sports a number of premium appointments such as 19-inch wheels that are colour-matched to the front grille, roof rails and badges, as well as a body-coloured front fascia insert, dual-pane sunroof and premium leather interior.
