Pricing for some of the cheapest electric cars available in Australia has increased as of the new year, as MG has bumped up pricing for one of its models, and the entry grade for another.
The 2024 MG ZS EV small SUV and the base variant MG4 Excite 51 electric small car have both copped a price increase, most grades by $1000, though the most expensive of the ZS EV range is up by $2000.
Now starting from $39,990 before on-roads is the entry-level MG4, at $1000 more than before, with no changes to specification. It still has a fairly simple features list, a 350km claimed driving range, and a rear-drive 125kW/250Nm powertrain drawing from an eponymous 51kWh battery.
The other higher grade models - the ‘64’, ‘77’ and XPower variants - in the MG4 range remain unchanged in price.
The full range for the ZS EV has gone up in price, however, with the Excite and Essence pricing going up by $1000, and the top-spec Long Range by $2000.
“The pricing adjustments for MG4 and ZS EV are a result of different external factors such as a rise in raw material costs, shipping costs and currency fluctuations,” an MG Motor Australia spokesperson confirmed to CarsGuide.
“Orders placed before January 1, 2024 are price-protected.”
While prices listed below are before on-road costs, MG lists state-by-state drive-away pricing for each variant of its electric cars on its website.
