Hyundai Australia has secured hundreds of additional units of some of its N performance models, adding to the stocks already available for “immediate delivery”.

While it’s not the same news across the model range, supply issues still plague the world’s auto industry, a Hyundai Australia spokesperson has told CarsGuide the brand has managed to source 425 new Hyundai i30 Sedan Ns, as well as 212 Hyundai Kona Ns for Australian customers.

The overall current supply stands at 637 Kona and Sedan Ns available for immediate delivery.

“HQ has recognised the strong demand we are receiving from our ‘N-thusiast’ buyers and has adjusted production accordingly,” a spokesperson told CarsGuide.

“These N Konas and Sedans are part of an order that will see 1146 of the two N models combined land by the end of Q1.”

Australian demand for N models (including N-Line) has risen dramatically over the last few years, with more models on sale and the introduction of the N-Line badge to replace top-spec models like the SR.

In 2019, less than 5 per cent of Hyundais sold in Australia wore an N badge in some way. Now, it’s approaching 30 per cent of new Hyundai models sold.

There’s still some frustration for fans of hot hatches around supply of its smaller performance models, with the Hyundai i20 currently on a sales pause as Hyundai Australia catches up to its wait list with a slow supply.

The i30 N hatchback, unlike the sedan, is also experiencing a higher demand than supply can match, though Hyundai Australia is keeping itself closely in the loop regarding availability.

Non-N variants across the i30, Kona, and Venue are currently experiencing some supply delays too, though the brand has healthier supplies of Santa Fe Hybrid, Palisade and Tucson diesel.

Hyundai advises hopeful customers to visit a dealership for stock enquiries, as some customers who are prepared to be “a little flexible on price and spec” might find cars are available sooner or even right away.
