Tickford reveals new 2017 Ford Mustang tweaks

Following last year's introduction of a suite of hi-po modifications for the Ranger one-tonne ute, reborn Ford tuner Tickford has created a choice of engine and exhaust packages for the Mustang sports car that boost both power output and engine note.

Tickford is offering the Power Packs for both four- and eight-cylinder variants for a total cost of $6,990, with the bundle including a cold air induction kit, engine management remap, bespoke rear diffuser, a cat-back exhaust system and fitment of the parts.

The GT gets a power bump of 54kW/55Nm to its 5.0-litre normally aspirated V8 when fitted with the 360 Power Pack, which boosts overall output to a corresponding 360kW/585Nm.

Four-cylinder EcoBoost variants get an even bigger change in torque when fitted with the 270 Power Pack, with its 233kW/432Nm 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit getting a boost of 37kW/117Nm for a total output of 270kW/540Nm.

And for GT owners with a bigger thirst for power than House of Cards’ Frank Underwood, Tickford can also offer a Ford Performance Parts supercharger kit, as well as promising ride and handling packages and a range of styling options further down the track.

Our 360 Power Pack is the epitome of our ‘performance driven by passion’ tagline.

No figures have yet been produced relating to acceleration, fuel economy and maximum speed with the Power Pack fitted, but Tickford Performance Parts director Tony Harris explained that the packs seriously boosted performance in both variants.

“Our 360 Power Pack is the epitome of our ‘performance driven by passion’ tagline,” he said. “It is tuned and developed for Australian conditions and really unleashes the performance of the GT, boosting an already impressive baseline package.

“The Mustang EcoBoost is becoming a popular choice and our equivalent 270 Power Pack powertrain package will give owners a significant uplift in overall vehicle performance,” Mr Harris continued.”

There is also an option for Mustang owners who are happy with their vehicle’s power output but are looking to let their neighbours know when they get home, with Tickford offering the stainless steel exhaust of the Power Pack as a standalone option for $3990 inclusive of GST and installation.

Exhausts on both variants sport quad carbon-fibre trimmed tail-pipes with Tickford’s own rear diffuser, that measure 2.5 inches in diameter for the EcoBoost and a meatier 3.0 inches for the V8 GT.

The exhaust system will now be able to drown out naysayers who claimed the exhaust note on the Mustang was too tame – one of its biggest criticisms.

As a part off its suite of mods for the Ranger, Tickford also offered a tough side-exit exhaust similar to the Mercedes-AMG G63 as part of a tuning package, however due to strong customer demand it decided to offer the exhaust as an individual item, priced at $2490.

“Customer feedback on our various Ranger packages was positive after we launched, though a number of potential customers were interested in an exhaust-only option,” said Mr Harris.

“One of our key brand pillars is to offer customers individuality so we looked into an exhaust-only program and it was possible, so we’ve offered it”.
