Updated for Oz: 2024 Mazda CX-30 small SUV gains new GT SP variant and a price bump up

Familiar looks but small changes to tech and efficiency for the CX-30.

Mazda Australia has detailed the incoming updated 2024 CX-30 small SUV, which includes a new variant added to the line-up.

The new Mazda CX-30 now starts from $32,990, before on-road costs, for the G20 Pure in automatic, up from the previously entry-level $30,610 G20 Pure in no-longer-available manual form.

Across the range, Mazda has made various additions and changes, some affecting only certain grades.

Front-wheel drive G20 variants, for example, have a new version of Mazda's 'Skyactiv-G' engine that makes 114kW and 200Nm, and uses 6.3L/100km instead of the 6.5L as previous.

Higher G25 grades with the 2.5-litre engine still use the unchanged 139kW/252Nm version, and all CX-30s are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The new GT SP variant starts from $42,190 in front-drive or $44,190 in AWD, and the same 139kW/252Nm 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine as the rest of the G25 variants, along with the six-speed auto.

It comes with visual differences like black alloy wheels and a black front grille and mirror caps, while inside, the steering wheel and front seats are heated, the latter finished in Burgundy leather, there’s a sunroof, and wireless phone charging. It also gains the 10.25-inch multimedia screen otherwise standard only in the Astina.

Each variant, for an extra $1300-$2000 depending and aside from the Astina which gets the features as standard, is available with a 'Vision Technology Pack' which adds a surround-view parking monitor, driver monitoring, front cross-traffic alert, ‘Cruising & Traffic Support’, and for the Pure, Evolve and Touring adds the 10.25-inch multimedia screen.

The updated Mazda CX-30 will be available to order for its on-sale in January 2024.
