Who says electric cars are boring? 2024 Lotus Eletre price and specs reveal Australia's new most powerful car!

The top-spec Lotus Eletre produces a staggering 675kW of power from two electric motors.

Lotus has priced its newest model, the Eletre electric SUV that is designed to blow away petrol-powered super crossovers like the Aston Martin DBX, Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Macan Turbo.

Kicking off at $239,000, before on-road costs, the Eletre is certainly not an impulsive purchase, but could raise the pulse thanks to head-turning looks and its 450kW/710Nm dual-electric motor output.

Stepping up to the mid-spec Eletre S raises pricing to $269,000 while affording buyers the same 450kW/710Nm set-up.

Meanwhile, the flagship Eletre R kicks off from $315,000 and ups the ante to a staggering 675kW/985Nm.

And for the sake of comparison, that’s more power than the 574kW Ferrari SF90 Stradale (from $846,888), 566kW Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (from $949,640) and 560kW Porsche Taycan Turbo S (from $363,800).

In fact, the Eletre R rises to the top of Australia’s power charts and is the new reigning champion of kilowatt output.

Kicking off at 9,000, before on-road costs, the Eletre is certainly not an impulsive purchase.

Acceleration from 0-100km/h in the base Eletre and S are pegged at 4.5 seconds, while the top-spec R will need just 2.95s to hit the landmark triple-digit speed.

Standard in the Eletre is a 112kWh battery and 800-volt architecture that allows for around 600km of driving range before needing a recharge – at least in the base car and the Eletre S. The Eletre R cuts driving range down to 490km due to its more potent output.

And, while topping up the new Lotus’ batteries won’t be as quick as its acceleration, 350kW DC fast charging capability allows the Eletre to charge from 10-80 per cent in just 20 minutes.

Equipment for the base Lotus Eletre is yet to be finalised.

However, using a 22kW AC wallbox the Eletre needs just under six hours for a full charge.

The Eletre also features regenerative braking, active air suspension, torque vectoring, six-piston front brakes and five driving modes ('Range', 'Tour', 'Sport', 'Individual' and 'Off-Road').

Equipment for the base Lotus Eletre is yet to be finalised, but expect to see features like 20-inch wheels, keyless entry, power-adjustable seats and more.

Stepping up to the S adds 22-inch wheels (wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres), soft-close doors, rear privacy glass, gloss-black roof and interior ambient lighting, as well as active aero, matrix LED headlights, a powered tailgate, quad-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, 15-speaker sound, a massive 29.0-inch head-up display, 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.6-inch front passenger display.

Four- and five-seat configurations will be available, too, but price differences between them are yet to be confimed.

Handling multimedia is a 15.1-inch OLED screen with wireless charger, 5G connectivity, digital radio and built in satellite navigation.

For safety, there’s a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, blind-spot detection, lane-keeping aids and more.

The top-spec R features a two-speed transmission, as in the Porsche Taycan, where it's used to maximise acceleration potential while retaining high efficiency.

The R also sports a 'Dynamic Handling Pack' (intelligent anti-roll control and rear wheel steering), a 'Track' driving mode, more aggressive Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres and carbon-fibre exterior components.

The first examples of the Eletre are scheduled to land in Australian from October this year.

Four- and five-seat configurations will be available, too, but price differences between them are yet to be confimed.

As a practical SUV, the Eletre also features two ISOFIX anchorage points on the rear outboard seats, while its boot capacity measures up to 688 litres which can be expanded to 1532L with the rear seats stowed. The Eletre also has a front luggage compartment capable of swallowing 46L.

The first examples of the Eletre are scheduled to land in Australian from October this year and will be used as demonstration vehicles, while customers should expect their new Lotus’ to arrive from the second quarter of 2024.
