Nikki Cousins and Peter Anderson road test and review the BMW X5 M, with specs, fuel consumption and verdict.
Big fast SUVs are all over the place now and the Germans are the kings of the segment. BMW's X5 range has more than one fast one - the diesel M50d, the V8-powered 50i and the top of the range, the X5 M.
Some people find super-powerful cars intimidating and the M-fettled X5 has a truckload of power and torque, fat tyres and a fast 0-100km/h time that would embarrass a Porsche, which is actually the point.
Nikki and Peter each took this formidable machine for a week - Peter wanted to know if it was a real M car and Nikki wanted to know if despite all the go-fast stuff, it's still as good as a "normal" X5 for family duties.
