Sitting at the top of the Pathfinder range is the flagship Ti-L which is new to the line-up. It is a four-wheel-drive only proposition and it is priced from $80,227 - more than $10k on top of the Ti.

Nothing is left out of the Ti-L, and on top of the Ti equipment it gains automatic rain-sensing wipers, a digital rear-view mirror, a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, power adjustable steering wheel, a 12-way power driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and quilted leather-accented seats.

Safety wise the Ti-L matches the Ti so that means auto emergency braking (AEB) with junction, pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear AEB, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning and intelligent blind spot intervention, rear seat alert, a driver alert, traffic sign recognition, trailer sway control and ProPilot.

All Pathfinders come with a revised version of the carryover 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine pumping out 202kW/340Nm matched with a new nine-speed automatic transmission that replaces the CVT. The hybrid from the previous model has been dropped globally.

Calling out the make and model of every single car he saw as a toddler might have challenged his parents’ patience, but it was clearly a starting point for Tim Nicholson’s journey into automotive journalism. Tim launched the program, Fender Bender, on community radio station JOY 94.9 during completion of his Master of Arts (Media and Communications). This led to an entry role at industry publication GoAuto, before eventually taking the role of Managing Editor. A stint as RACV’s Motoring Editor – including being an Australia’s Best Cars judge – provided a different perspective to automotive media, before leading him to CarsGuide where he started as a Contributing Journalist in September 2021, and transitioned to Senior Editor in April 2022, before becoming Managing Editor in December 2022.
