The tiny, two-seat, two-door, Lotus Elise sports car has been in continuous production since 1997, but has managed to remain fresh and relevant, despite its relative obscurity.
The Elise features a fibreglass body bolted on top of an extruded aluminium chassis, with a four-cylinder engine mounted behind the passenger compartment. Early cars used an MG-Rover-sourced four-cylinder engine, while cars from 2007 onwards used Toyota four-cylinder petrol engines, in various guises ranging from the $97,990 Elise Sport 240 Final Edition up to the $109,990 Elise CUP 250 Final Edition.
Light weight and minimal driver aids distinguish the Elise from its competition, and it's a philosophy that the tiny English company has stuck with to this day.
