McLaren 650S supercar leaked

Despite the normally locked-down security at McLaren -- where it's forbidden to pass information internally on USBs for fear of leaks -- the new 650S has escaped online ahead of its debut at Geneva show on March 4.

Showing the expected cross-pollination between the MP4-12C and the latest P1 supercar, with front end styling echoing the latter, the 650S will slot in between the two in the McLaren line-up.

Specifications haven't yet been confirmed, but the 650S is largely an uprated MP4-12C, with the power lifted to 650hp (hence the name), or 485kW in our metrics plus 657Nm of torque. That's 25kW and 57Nm over the outputs of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 in the MP4-12C, and suggests it could shave the 12C's 0-100km/h time of 3.3 seconds.

The 650S is tipped to roll on bantamweight wheels shod with Pirelli PZero Corsa rubber, with carbon-ceramic brakes. It's also likely to repeat the P1's option of losing extra weight by exchanging the normal seats for carbon-fibre ones.

McLaren has already indicated we'll get more information before the unveiling -- so stay tuned.
