Toyota's Supra sports car to return as... a NASCAR?!

By Iain KellyIain Kelly

Toyota fans have been howling for a replacement to the iconic Supra since it disappeared over 15 years ago, and it was only made worse when the Japanese manufacturer pulled the covers off a drop-dead sexy concept in 2014 called the FT-1.

They teased a sports racing car earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, called the GR Racing Supra Concept, but now Toyota Racing Developments have officially announced the return of one of Japan’s most beloved sports cars... as a NASCAR.

Kicking off at Daytona in February 2019 the Supra will replace the Camry in the Xfinity Series, though the Camry will continue running in the Monster Energy Cup Series.

Kyle Busch is slated to race the Supra, which is Toyota’s first model change since entering NASCAR in 2007.

The production Supra will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week!
