Audi’s RS5 is the brand’s high-performance car in the A5 range. It sits above the S5 and joined the range in 2010 as a 3.2-litre V8 coupe only, which was replaced by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 which was both more powerful and lighter than its predecessor. For the first time, it was also offered in a ‘Sportback’ four-door body style.
The line-up currently starts at $168,015 for the RS5 2.9 Tfsi Quattro and ranges through to $168,015 for the range-topping RS5 2.9 Tfsi Quattro.
The Audi RS5 accelerates to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds.
Inside, the RS5 is a sea of black Nappa leather and sporty touches, and we particularly like the chunky, flat-bottomed steering wheel, which both looks and feels great.
I would expect it to depreciate at the same rate as any other car in the short to medium term, but it could hold its value longer as it becomes more desirable as a collector car.

In terms of fruit, you'll find 20-inch alloys outside, as well sportier RS body styling, sport brakes, Matrix LED headlights, keyless entry and push-button start and heated mirrors, a sunroof and privacy glass. Inside, there's Nappa leather seats (heated in the front), illuminated door sills, stainless steel pedals and ambient interior lighting.
The tech stuff is handled by a new 10.1-inch central touchscreen that gets both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Audi's Virtual Cockpit, which replaces the dials in the driver's binnacle with a digital screen.
There's also wireless phone charging, and a killer 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system.
The Audi RS5 is a four-seat (Coupe) or five-seat (Sportback) performance model, with plenty of space for upfront riders, but a tighter rear seat, especially in two-door Coupe guise.
