The ‘S’ in Audi S5 could stand for ‘sweet spot’. It’s not a full-fat RS sports model, but it has more than a few Audi Sport tricks applied to the formula, and the result is a superbly sports touring two-door Coupe or five-door Sportback – both of which stand apart from their competitors.
The German brand’s S5 model is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine that offers immense power and driveability, and it has Audi’s renowned ‘quattro’ all-wheel drive system to assure smooth progress.
And in another sweet move from the four-ring brand, deciding on whether to go for the S5 Coupe or the S5 Sportback does not come down to money - the price is the same for both body-styles, at $119,215.
I wouldn’t accept the advice without getting another opinion, one that is definitive, not a guess. You could take it to a mechanic who specializes in Audis and VWs and they should be able to give you an opinion you can believe.

Across the five S4 and S5 bodystyles, there is some variance in performance potential, with the S4 sedan and S5 Coupe topping the performance chart with 0-100km/h boasts of 4.7s, with the S5 Sportback trailing them by 0.1s, the S4 Avant by a further 0.1s and the Cabriolet managing a still-fast 5.1s claim. All are limited to a top speed of 250km/h.
On the inside, there’s a new centre console and bigger 10.1-inch multimedia screen, while the Audi Virtual Cockpit driver instrument display now offers a hockey stick-style rev counter in additional to traditional dial layouts.
Key S4 and S5 accessories include Nappa leather trim with front sport seats with seat heaters and massage function, a Bang & Olufsen sound system which spreads 755W across a total of 19 speakers, brushed aluminium inlays, head-up display, coloured ambient lighting, tinted windows and metallic paint.
The S4 and S5 sport seats are wrapped in fine Nappa leather trim with seat heaters and massage function up front.
