The BMW X7 arrived on sale in Australia in 2019, and you could extrapolate from the name that is it an extra-large seven-seater – because that’s precisely the premise of the Bavarian brand’s flagship SUV.
The X7 sits atop a well-stacked line-up of SUVs, offering family practicality in a large and luxury-focused package. The made-in-America model offers in your face styling, behemoth exterior dimensions, and a cabin that is comfy and commodious across all three rows.
The BMW X7 range starts at $171,300 for the X Models X7 Xdrive40I M Sport Mhev, while the range-topping X Models X7 M60I Xdrive Mhev lists at $209,300 – and for that, you get a lot of SUV for your money.
The following BMW X7 is available with seven seats. The xDrive30d variant is available with Leather ‘Vernasca’ upholstery in Black or Coffee as standard. As an optional extra, BMW Individual Leather ‘Merino’ trim is available, with the choice of: Ivory White/Night Blue Bi-colour, Ivory White, Coffee, Black or Tartufo. The M50i variant comes with the choice of Ivory White, Coffee of Black ‘Merino’ leather as standard. Black leather upholstery with contrast stitching is available with the addition of the optional M Sport Package on both variants.
With the Germans in particular hungry to mine every single niche – fanned by the flames of electrification and a hunger by the ever-growing number of global billionaires for the biggest and best – an 'uber, uber SUV' above the X7 will probably happen.
BMW is saying nothing of course, and we're only speculating here, but if it ever happens, it would almost certainly be electric or electrified, and may spawn a Rolls-Royce offshoot, since BMW owns that English brand.
So, nothing for now, but don't bet against an X8 or even X9. They're likely inevitable given enough time.
