Best approach for fixing puncture

My 2004 Renault Clio Sport does not have a spare wheel, jack, wheel brace or toolkit, it has an aerosol tyre repair can. In the event of a puncture, will the tyre be repairable/serviceable after it is filled with the "get you home" goo, or will it deemed unroadworthy? My concern is that the Michelin tyres it's fitted with cost about $250 to replace, and from past experience with other cars, it's likely that I will have a puncture. Alternatively, I could buy a spare wheel, wheel brace and jack, and leave them in my garage. This would allow me to rotate tyres as they wear, and I may be able to get a lift home to pick up the spare and tools if I were to puncture. What do you think?

Using the 'goo' as you call it will not affect the tyre, which will be perfectly useable after being repaired, providing of course it has not been damaged when it was deflated after being punctured. It is, however, a bit of a job to clean it out of the tyre. I would stick with the 'goo' and not spend the money on the spare, jacks and tools. They are not of much use if you can't carry them with you.
