    Holden Captiva 2006: Is it worth getting a new timing chain?

    The engine light in my 2006 Holden Captiva came on, so I went to my mechanic. He said it needs a new timing chain. I really don’t want to get a new car — is it worth getting it fixed and around how much should I expect it will cost?

    It is worth fixing, you will only have more trouble if you don’t. Cost depends on the engine. If it’s a V6 it could cost as much as $3000, a 4-cylinder less.
