I’m looking at buying a 2003 Toyota RAV4 5-door auto, which has done 137,000 km. The seller says the logbooks and a service history available. Are there any major problems that I should be aware of, such as whether it has had a timing belt or chain replaced?
It has a timing chain, which doesn’t require changing regularly, as a belt does. The only serious problem the RAV4 suffered related to the ECU controlling the automatic transmission, which could fail resulting in erratic shifting.
