I’m looking at a used 2014/15 Nissan Qashqai for Uber driving and commuting, around 800-1000 km/week. I prefer the torque and economy of the 1.6 DCi, but have been warned against modern diesels by a mechanic because there is more potential for expensive repairs compared to a petrol engine. Are there any known issues/faults with the 2014/15 diesels in the Qashqai?
There is nothing to suggest the diesel is a problem, and I would question your mechanic’s advice. The high fuel pressure of today’s diesels can result in worn injectors and they can cost upwards of $2000 to replace. Other than that there’s nothing to be overly concerned about.
