20:24 vision! 2024 Subaru BRZ manual sports car gains EyeSight safety systems

The BRZ previously only had EyeSight in its automatic guise.

Subaru has addressed a small shortcoming with its popular BRZ sports car, adding previously missing safety features to its manual variants.

Subaru's EyeSight, which is what it calls its safety suite that uses cameras for collision avoidance, has been available on the automatic versions of the BRZ along with the rest of the brand's range.

EyesSight brings with it features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking and lane departure warning.

Since its introduction in 2012 for the Outback in Australia, EyeSight has been rolled out to the Subaru line-up to the extent that it says "95 per cent of Subaru vehicles sold in Australia are equipped with EyeSight".

Managing Director of Subaru Australia Blair Read said the decision aims to give enthusiasts the "best of both worlds" when it comes to fun and safety in a sports car.

"This announcement confirms Subaru Australia's ongoing commitment to providing driving enthusiasts manual transmission options now combined with advanced safety features of Eyesight."

More information about the 2024 BRZ is coming later this year, including pricing and specification.
