Tesla is preparing to reveal its updated Model Y codenamed “Juniper”.
The latest round of spy pics and renders show the fast-selling electric SUV with a heavily reworked face.
Leaks are starting to surface in China, where the Model Y is built for Australia, and the latest round of spy pics from Autospy show the Model Y with double decker headlights.
This is a change from the originally rumoured styling that borrowed heavily from the updated Model 3 released earlier this year.
There are reports the top headlight is actually a light bar that runs the width of the bonnet, which is a common trait among electric cars, especially those from China.
Chinese blogger SugarDesign has whipped up some renders that reveal what the Model Y could look like if that feature makes it to production.

Production is believed to start before the end of the month in China. Initially it will be a small number but capacity is expected to pick up quickly with Australian versions likely to arrive early in the new year.
Rumours have it the Model Y will get a bigger 96kWh battery for the Long Range and Performance versions.
This could result in a driving range of more than 700km in the long-legged version and dramatically improved range for the Performance model.

Power is expected to remain unchanged but the Model Y is likely to receive the same suspension upgrades as the Model 3.
This means revised hardware with upgraded bushing and frequency selective dampers among the improvements.
Aerodynamic upgrades and unique adaptive dampers are also expected for the Performance variant.

Inside the Model Y should do away with the indicator stalk and move to button controls on the steering wheel. New acoustic glass will make the cabin quieter and new tyres and wheels will also help reduce road noise. A rear-seat passenger screen is also on the cards.
Tesla is extremely secretive with future products so we won’t have confirmation until the vehicle lands on the company’s website.
