The Audi Q2 2019 range is on sale in Australia, with the German compact luxury SUV range now consisting of only two models.
The Audi Q2 range is opened by the renamed 35 TFSI 'design' model opening the line-up at $41,950 (plus on-road costs), while the range-topping variant is now the 40 TFSI 'sport' quattro, priced at $49,400 (plus on-road costs). The existing 2.0 TDI diesel model has been axed.
The 35 TFSI is motivated by a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, and it has a seven-speed dual-clutch auto powering the front wheels only. The claimed 0-100km/h time for this version is 8.5 seconds, and fuel use is claimed at 5.3L/100km.

The 40 TFSI version has a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine with 140kW/320Nm. It uses a seven-speed dual-clutch auto as well, but sends power to all four wheels via the 'quattro' AWD system. Performance is improved by 2.0sec (0-100 in just 6.5sec), while fuel use is claimed at 6.5L/100km.
Standard equipment for the 35 TFSI variant includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with LED daytime running lights and dynamic indicators, dual zone climate control, cruise control, auto headlights and wipers, leather seat trim, a leather steering wheel, white interior trim elements. This version also sports grey exterior highlights on the bumpers and on the 'blade' on the C-pillar.
The 40 TFSI steps up to 18-inch alloy wheels, blind spot monitoring, sports leather seats, red interior highlights with aluminium finishes, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather wheel with paddle-shifters, and an electric tailgate.

Both models run a 7.0-inch media screen with sat nav, eight speakers, 2x SD card readers, USB port, DAB+ digital radio, wireless (Qi) smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, and Audi connect online services (data plan required).
Safety gear includes six airbags (dual front, front side, curtain) auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, stability control and tyre pressure monitoring. A reversing camera is standard, as is front and rear parking sensors.
Both models require an option box to be ticked to get adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, high beam assist, hill-hold assist and semi-automated park assist.
