The German tuner has taken the already-insane G63 AMG 6x6 revealed earlier in the year, and turned up the lunacy dial to 700 for the B63S 700 6x6.

Unveiled at week’s Frankfurt motor show, the B63S 6x6 takes the base G63 6x6’s 400kW 5.5-litre V8 and adds upgraded turbochargers to result in 515kW, or the 700 metric horsepower reflected in its name. Torque is also boosted by 140Nm to now total 900Nm.

Wearing Brabus’ trademark black paint, the B63S 700 scores extra LED lighting, carbon-fibre bonnet bulge and vents, Brabus badging, and chunkier 37 inch Pro Comp Xtreme mud-terrain tyres.

The G63 AMG 6x6’s six-wheel drivetrain with five diff-locks is maintained, along with portal axles that give it close to half a metre of ground-clearance.

Contrasting with the B63S 700’s aggressive exterior is an interior fit-out that would make Liberace blush. The opulence of the standard G63 has made way for floor-to-ceiling (literally) quilted red leather, with embroidered and backlit Brabus logos smattered throughout.

Brabus claims a 0-100km/h figure of 7.4 seconds, which is about the same as a basic diesel E250 sedan, but bear in mind the B63S 700 is nudging a 4 tonne kerb weight.

The B63S 700’s top-speed is limited to ‘just’ 160km/h though, due to the inherent friction of the portal axles and the jagged tread blocks of those tyres.

Brabus isn’t taking pricing just yet, but is likely to be well North of the G63 AMG 6x6’s circa-US$500,000 ask. You could be forgiven for assuming the B63S 700 6x6 as the ultimate Gelandewagen or G-Class, but surely that title will have to wait for a version with the G65 AMG’s twin-turbo 6.0 litre V12

Back when all cars burned fuel and couldn't drive themselves, Mal was curing boredom by scanning every car his parents' VB Commodore drove past. His childhood appreciation for the car world exploded during a three-year stint in the US, and serious questions were asked when he spent a good chunk of his uni career perfecting lap times at Wakefield Park. Mal got his big break scooping the VE II Commodore, before a stint at Overlander magazine and kicking off his online career with The Motor Report in its heyday. These days he's exactly the same height as Michael Schumacher and uses his powers for good at the helm of CarsGuide's editorial team. Mal proudly shuns brand allegiance and counts three young kids, an EH Holden, NA MX-5, KE20 Corolla, W116 Mercedes-Benz and the world's most versatile Toyota Echo among his personal stable. He also craves a Subaru Vortex, so get in touch if you know where to find one.
