As the Pope packs his bags to leave the Australian shores he has one last job to do — sell the Pope Mobile.
So the iconic vehicle has been added to the 90,000+ new and used cars for sale on carsguide.com.au, and editor Karla Pincott says the website is delighted to help sell the Pontiff’s wheels.
Pincott says the Pope Mobile would most likely be in pristine condition.
“It’s only ever driven gently – and very slowly – and our request to the Vatican for even a short test drive was politely declined,” she said.
“Unfortunately there are no test drives allowed.
“It will also be very hard for prospective buyers to check the vehicle out thoroughly, but we can tell them it’s a Mercedes-Benz finished in a special paint colour called Mystic White.
“However as the vehicle was used for ceremonial purposes only, I imagine it will be in superb condition.”
Despite its appeal, however, Ms Pincott said the Pope Mobile might be a tough sell given its listing price was “priceless”.
