Then a hot-selling favourite in the US market, the 3.0-litre FWD Ford Taurus sedan was sold in Australia from 1996 to 1998.

Ford HQ in Detroit was convinced the car was a better option than the locally designed and built Falcon, but it lacked the local car’s space and lazy performance and its looks weren’t a hit with Aussie buyers.

The line-up currently starts at $3,190 for the Taurus Ghia and ranges through to $4,950 for the range-topping Taurus Ghia.
