The badge might say Holden but this beast was Chevy to its boot straps, the full-size, 2.7-tonne 4x4 SUV built in right-hand drive at GM’s Silao factory in central Mexico.

It featured both kinds of engine - 5.7L petrol V8 or 6.5L turbo-diesel V8 - matched to a four-speed auto transmission.

Able to seat nine it was in market for three years from 1998 to 2001.

The line-up currently starts at $10,230 for the Suburban 1500 (4X4) and ranges through to $18,260 for the range-topping Suburban 2500 LT (4X4).
