The iconic and legendary Nismo 400R. If you haven’t heard of this car before, you are in for a treat.

The 400R is based off the Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R. It is extremely rare, powerful and also looks stunning. It ticks all the right boxes for any JDM enthusiast.

Not just an R33 with stickers...

Instead of the standard GT-R's RB26DETT, the 400R had a very special RB-X GT2 built by REINIK. This was a bored and stroked 2.8 litre RB specifically engineered for the 400R. It produces 300kW (400hp) hence the ‘400’ in the name.

300kW - speaks to the flexibility of the RB engine.

What does the ‘R’ stand for you might ask? Racing. This car was capable of reaching a top speed of 300kph+ and had an impressive 0-100 time of 4.0 seconds, Racing indeed.

Does it not look amazing?

The production run was scarce, only 100 units were planned to roll out of the Nismo Omori factory, but in reality only 44 units ended up being produced before the end of the R33 era in 1998. It's almost as rare as the Nismo 270R, so seeing one of these in the flesh is like spotting a unicorn, especially if you live outside of Japan.

With only 44 ever built, good luck even spotting one.

If you were lucky enough to attend World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney this year, your heart could have melted like mine if you spotted this spectacular midnight purple 400R. We're surprised there's one in Australia at all!

Do you think the 400R is a priceless JDM legend or just another R33? Tell us what you think in the comments.
