    There sounds like an issue with the cruise control rather than the engine. It could be a computer or sensor malfunction. Have a mechanic check it.

    It’s rated to tow up to 1500 kg if the caravan has brakes, so providing it weighs less than 1500 kg when fully loaded it should tow it without difficulty. But I would recommend that you have the automatic transmission serviced before you leave on your trip.

    I wouldn’t hold off, the consequences of breaking a belt are too dramatic to risk. Belts do deteriorate over time, that’s why all carmakers that use belts put a time limit on their replacement. It’s to cover owners like yourself so do limited kays. At your current rate the car would be eight years old by the time it reaches 100,000 km, which would be too risky.
