For those that think the Suzuki Vitara is a little too mainstream. The Suzuki X90 is peak Japanese experimentation fusing four-wheel drive off-road capability with targa top open air motoring.

It uses a 1.6-litre petrol engine to drive either the rear or all-four wheels with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

The X90 was sold in Australia between 1996 and 1998 it is a niche little alternative to the Suzuki Jimny and also Mazda MX-5.

The line-up currently starts at $2,860 for the X-90 (4X4) and ranges through to $4,840 for the range-topping X-90 (4X4).
